Benny's Family
Within six weeks of Benny’s terminal diagnosis, Make-A-Wish® granted his family an all-expenses-paid dream vacation to Disney World and Give Kids the World Village® in Florida. Make-A-Wish®, whose mission is to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Thanks to their expediency, Benny was still able to walk a little, and most importantly, he could fully experience the magic of Disney. The Penner family cherishes the memories from this vacation and is infinitely grateful for the kindness extended to them throughout Benny’s illness.
Benny’s spirit lives on during an annual 5K/10K road race held in Placerville, California, that raises funds for non-profit agencies that serve seriously ill children and their families. Proceeds support organizations like Make-A-Wish®, Give Kids the World®, and Sweet Dreams Foundation, as well as other local non-profit agencies. Since the race’s inception in 2012, more than $100,000 has been raised to support local families.
Benny’s parents, Brad and Nancy, and his brother Tomas extend their appreciation to all who support this event.
Our Mission
Our mission is to raise funds for non-profit agencies helping seriously ill children and their families. Raising awareness of the needs of children with life-threatening illnesses within their own communities and the non-profit agencies that support them. We help to make fundraising family friendly.
Our Fundraising
On March 17, 2012 we had our first 5K Fun Run and Walk and raised $5,000. In 2013 the run was expanded to include a 10K and since then over $100,000 has been raised. All monies are earmarked for El Dorado County residents only. We are grateful for all our generous sponsors, donors, and participants who have helped to support us.
